Our co-operation with Gérard Depardieu

Following our common press conference in Bordeaux in June 2005, French TV and radio stations, and the press reported it as a sensation that Gérard Depadrieu announced his intention to found an estate of his in Badacsony.

On the opening day of Vinexpo, Gérard Depardieu arrived to Bordeaux by helicopter from his film shooting in Clermont-Ferrand, only to take part at our wine tasting and press conference. Wine maker Dominique Polleau from Gérard Depardieu's Château de Tigné took part in the tasting as well. After tasting each other's wines, Gérard Depardieu read out a text on the common origins and traditions of the French and Hungarian wine culture, and their importence in Europe in the future.

The main aim was to point out problems with local wine producition in a World of mass production and globalisation. Should we give up our traditions and assimilate into the globalising World, where new-born wine growing areas have an advantage on us, or should there be a new initiate based on the common fate of the rural European areas.
